Rongoa Maori Medicine Manufacture Weekend


The rongoa manufacturing workshop is offered to demonstrate the making of rongoa for use with friends and family.

This workshop aims to cover:

  • a review of the principles of rongoa Maori;
  • do's, don'ts and why's of harvesting, storage and manufacturing; ethics;
  • using rakau for rongoa and kai; making ointments, balms, creams, infusions, and decoctions based on rongoa principles;
  • introduction to other rongoa applications including poultices, compresses, syrups and plasters etc;
  • reflections on our responsibilities, care of the knowledge and safety.

This is an intensive weekend that encourages student participation and sharing of knowledge and experiences. The prerequisite for enrolment is having completed at least Rongoa Maori 2.

Dates: Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July 2017
Time: 9.30am - 4.00pm Saturday, and 8.00am - 4.00pm Sunday (incl early morning bushwalk)

Early-bird Fee: $275.00 (includes all materials for making rongoa, and accommodation on Friday/Saturday night if required, but no catering)
Fee if paid after 1 July: $295.00
